Massachusetts has the SMART program (Solar Massachusetts Renewable Target) and Connecticut has the RRES program (Residential Renewable Energy Solutions). Both are state-run programs that pay you for the solar energy your system produces.
On top of the state programs, there is also the federal solar tax credit (currently 30% of your system cost) and net metering credits from your utility company. Together, these incentives can reduce the cost of a solar system by 40 to 60%.

How much can I get from MA SMART?
It depends on your system size and your utility company. Most residential systems in MA receive between $0.03 and $0.15 per kilowatt-hour produced, which can add up to thousands of dollars over the program term.
Is the federal tax credit still available?
Yes. As of 2024, the federal solar investment tax credit is 30% of your total system cost. This is a dollar-for-dollar reduction in your federal income tax.
What if I already have solar but never enrolled?
It depends on when you installed and your state. Some programs allow retroactive enrollment. We will check your specific situation.
Do you charge for this consulting?
